Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
1. Strategy and planning
Working with regional and country colleagues, develop sector strategies which align with country, regional and corporate strategies and priorities.
2. Business development, pursuit and positioning of partnership and full cost recovery (FCR) opportunities
Active pursuit of partnerships and FCR opportunities across our four main sectors, with specific emphasis on education, based on the current pipeline of opportunities, market intelligence and knowledge:
• Contribute to the development and management of relationships with existing and potential stakeholders including government bodies, donors, private sector organisations, NGOs and individuals.
• Proposal preparation and co-ordination of client-funded competitive tenders and direct contracting, as required, including writing expressions of interest, concept notes and proposals.
3. Relationship building and managing networks
To identify, build and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders including government bodies, donors, INGOs, private sector organisations across our core areas.
4. Oversee programme delivery
To oversee the implementation and evaluation of our programmes, working closely with the programme managers:
• Ensure clear planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes/projects to meet the needs of stakeholders, partners and customers, and achieve the programme/project objectives and outcomes
• Development, implementation and evaluation of communications plans.
• Identification of opportunities to support the British Council’s Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy, and considers all seven areas of EO&D (equal opportunities and diversity) framework in planning and implementation of programme and project activities.
5. Resources management
Active management of people and finances in line with British Council processes and standards:
• Identification and control of project risks.
• Ensure effective financial management of programmes and projects using SAP and off-system tools.
• effectively line manage five members of staff and support professional development according to standards of Performance Management and Professional Development, ensuring effective knowledge sharing between colleagues.
• To proactively participate in the corporate Performance Management and Professional Development system and keep professionally updated in related areas.
