Job purpose:
Responsible for effectively managing and controlling all aspects of the construction process. The Construction manager evaluates and helps determine appropriate construction delivery systems and the most cost-effective plan for completing the project and divides all required construction site activities into logical steps, budgeting the time required to meet established deadlines.
Principal Accountabilities
•Organizes schedules and work to tight deadlines.
•Manages construction contracts as directed by the Project Manager.
•Evaluates and recommends various construction and delivery methods in the construction project and assists in the development of the planning and scheduling of construction activities.
•Implements policies and procedures, oversees the performance of all subcontractors to ensure that works are completed according to construction plans, specifications and schedule.
•Participates in regular meetings for management and contractors when required.
•Manages any problems encountered on site during construction and manages quality control, health and safety issues.
•Directs and monitors compliance with building and safety codes and makes safety inspections of the site.
•Reviews engineering and architectural drawings and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
•Ensures compliance with contract requirements.
•Supervises documentation of all significant project events.
•Directs construction services and activities.
•Maintains quality control & integrity of completed activities.
•Ensures that the deadline for completing work is met.
•Ensures that project budget expenditures remains within budget allocation and provides the project team with the necessary resources to complete the project.
•Processes requests for Information and Change Orders, and prepares periodic progress reports.
•Prepares various reports to successfully manage the project, such as: monthly progress analysis and schedules, billings, and status reports.
