Manager – Field Engineering (Assembly and TAC)

Overall Purpose



•To lead and manage the Field Engineering Team, Assembly Team and the Technical Assistance Centre.

•To allocated Field Engineering and Assembly Teams in support of new and on-going projects.

•Provide TAC support to O&M projects including first line maintenance and spares/repair support as contracted.

•To support Lead Engineers during the Assembly, FAT, IFAT, Installation and Commissioning phases of systems delivery.

•To ensure high assembly quality standards are met and maintained.

•To provide training support to Lead Engineers during FAT, IFAT and Commissioning.

•To manage the Technical Receipt and Issue process of the company including test equipment management.

•To mentor, train and develop the engineers and technicians under his or her control.



Principal Job Responsibilities



•Manage the Field Engineering and Assembly Teams, providing support to the Lead Engineers during system assembly, integration, FAT, IFAT, deployment, installation and commissioning.

•Provide first line field engineering support and arrange second andthird line support to projects and O&M contracted systems.

•Build relationships with suppliers, including equipment, consumables and manpower (technicians) providers.

•Arrange contract manpower during the assembly and deployment of systems, ensuring all contractors are supervised as required.

•Manage and maintain the 3W training facility as directed by the Senior Engineering Manager.

•Ensure the Field Engineering and Assembly Teams are fully trained and capable of supporting the systems they are tasked to install and repair/maintain.

•Ensure the assembly area is managed efficiently and in a way that allows concurrent project activity such as assembly, FAT, IFAT to be carried out on multiple systems.

•Ensure that the assembly area is fully equipped with the correct tools, materials and consumables to support cabinet and system assembly.

•Ensure that assembly and installation quality standards are reached and maintained at all times, liaising closely with the QA Manager.

•Maintain a systems document control process ensuring that all equipment software and hard copy manuals are captured, copied and stored for future reference and issue.

•Maintain a Technical Receipt and Issue process ensuring that all equipment entering or leaving the assembly and TAC area for repair is tracked and managed.

•Maintain equipment history cards for all 3W test equipment in order to track and control the issue and calibration of the test equipment.



HSE Responsibilities



•Ensure that the assembly area and TAC HSE requirements are met and maintained and that all personnel working or entering the area are briefed accordingly.

•Ensure mandatory reporting of incidents/accidents and near misses in the assembly area, TAC and during field deployments.

•Ensure field, assembly and TAC personal maintain compliance to all HSE regulations and standards including safety at work and the use of correct PPE.



Required Competencies



•Education : Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent.

•Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience in Field Engineering or a related discipline.
