Planning, executing and managing all matters related to construction quality assurance of mechanical works. Ensuring the construction, attendance and improvement of ventilating and air-conditioning systems, plumbing systems, fire protection and life safety systems, lighting systems, building commissioning and alternative energy systems. Ensuring the completion of project within budgeted time, cost and quality standards while complying with the regulations of the relevant authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project drawings related to mechanical engineering and ensure its compliance with designs, contract requirement and its coordination with other discipline.
- Review materials related to mechanical engineering and ensure its compliance with contract requirement.
- Prepare project drawings in coordination with the design function based on tender drawing, structural, architectural and false ceiling drawings.
- Ensure quality of work is in compliance with contract requirements and good practice and that only approved materials are used;
- Design plumbing, fire protection and life safety systems, lighting systems, building commissioning and alternative energy systems for application in residential, commercial and industrial facilities;
- Coordinate installation, operation, maintenance, and repair activities of machines and equipment to assure its optimum utilization.
- Plan and direct construction personnel in the installation and use of test control apparatus and equipment and carry out applicable tests.
- Evaluate existing field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions;
- Develop solutions to problems that may arise during the course of the project to ensure non-recurrence and treatment;
- Identify gaps in the mechanical engineering plans and designs agreed and address the concerns to the related authorities to review and discuss.
- Review all subcontractor submittals related to mechanical engineering addressing Method Statements, Project Quality Plan, Safety Plan, Schedules and compliance with Project objective.
- Work out delivery and installation schedules for machines, switch gear, cables and fittings.
- Ensure that completed works meet specifications and safety standards.
- Ensure that site activities are properly monitored and quality records are established and maintained.
- Witness testing and commissioning of the works and assist with the final inspection of the work after completion.
- Prepare documents for Procurement with regards to purchase of routine and non-routine items and for contracts with vendors employed to manage facilities equipment and buildings.
- Monitor and ensure that activities and operations within the mechanical work projects are in accordance with QIMC’s policies and procedures and report any discrepancies to the DirectorProject.
- Analyze information related to running project and prepare engineering reports on that regard to the management.
- Possess full knowledge of laws relating to construction in the State of Qatar; and
- Ensure high standards of confidentiality to safeguard commercially sensitive information.
