• To assist the chief steward in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness of all kitchen and other related areas and keep control of all supplies and equipment used in all restaurants and kitchen.
• Check daily work schedule to see which stewards are working in each area and make sure all areas have been covered.
• Make sure special tasks like general cleaning are assigned and maintain a list so that throughout the course of the day they can be inspected.
• Do inspections, take note of any areas that are not up to the standards or that need
• maintenance. Follow up to ensure that things can be inspected.
• Ensure that all assignments and delegated work are completed promptly and in a timely manner.
• Be able to contribute much needed input in associate evaluation and take charge of all situations
• and decisions that need to be made if assistant chief steward is not present.
• Assist the managers with any special tasks or projects.
• Report to chief steward/assistant chief steward of any unusual incidents or accidents that have occurred throughout the shift.
• Be directly in charge in supervising all stewards, making sure that standards are met.
• Assist in the inventory process.
• Perform any other duties assigned.
• Check that associates have all proper cleaning supplies and equipment needed, and they are in good operation condition.
• Develop, train and ensure safe working habits for associates.
