Control Room Specialist - Manpower Middle East

Our client, leading multinational logistics company is currently seeking to recruit a Control Room Specialist . This position will be based in Dubai Hub & Ramp



Job Purpose

Supports Hub and Ramp operations in achieving critical service levels which are dependent upon timely, efficient and coordinated actions between impacted departments (Ramp Ops, ULD Movement, GTS Transit Dept., GOCC, Sort System Maintenance etc).



Provides effective support for either Hub OR Ramp operations. Co-ordinates and controls the information/communication flow to ensure that all teams/departments remain updated on operational status, priorities and contingency situations. Includes re-assigning actions and resources to optimize achievement of deadlines.



Job size

The Hub control room team handles approx:

• approximately 25 feeder aircraft, 4 wide body flights / day

• 60k to 100k shipments though CDG per day

• 2000+ ULD movements

• Shuttles to 5 stations and heavy weight operations

• 11 GCC cross border trucks



Key Accountabilities

Knowledge and Certifications - Maintains knowledge of Control Room processes, procedures and controls together with a thorough understanding of Ramp OR Sort Operations. Keeps updated on all new, or changing requirements, including P&P, building and loading freight, package routing, line-haul, procedures for dealing with specials and contingency operations etc. For relevant areas maintains required certifications (W&B, Ramp Basic, DG Awareness, Tiedown & Shoring, T-Stacking, and other training as required).



Shares relevant knowledge and information with peers.



Operational Status - In order to effectively direct Hub or Ramp activities reviews the operational requirements for the day (linehaul, volumes, delays, specials etc) and then maintains 100% operational awareness during Sort/Ramp operations by using:

• Control Room Ramp or Sort System screens (conveyor systems)

• Video Screens and Video Camera control systems

• relevant screens in FedEx systems (ULD movement, scanning, Scanning, Flight and Truck systems, Package information systems, etc)

• Radio and telephones



Updating the Operation - Co-ordinates communications within/between Hub and Ramp departments, throughout Sort/Load operations to ensure that all areas are informed of any pertinent information, as it becomes available. Includes communications between the Sort and GTS Transit Ops to ensure that all information related to the closure of routes in Slash or Visa RBC activity is communicated promptly to permit on-time preparation of transit documents.



Achieving service - Uses all relevant tools to continually monitor an assigned area of the operation. Identifies factors that potentially impacts service (Linehaul issues, freight availability, backlogged freight, sortdown times and delays) and co-ordinates relevant corrective actions (re-assigning of resource, prioritisation of freight, requesting additional equipment etc). Keeps management/coordinator informed on all potentially serious situations.



Contingencies and ‘Specials’ - Takes ownership of the handling of frequent ‘special situations’ (extra flights/trucks, change of aircraft type or parking area etc) and contingency plans (late truck/flight, weather, resource issues etc). Monitors situations, providing timely instructions on actions needed (re-assign resources, prioritization of freight, analysis of best recovery plan, communicate plan to all dpts) to ensure the revised goals are met, with minimal disruption to service.



ULD Movement - Monitors the movement of all arriving and departing ULDs before, during, and after Sort Ops in co-ordination with the ULD Move department to ensure that all ULDs are accounted for. Communicates any exceptions immediately to concerned areas.
