Senior Structural Engineer - Steel Works - 6 Month Contract
We are currently searching for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Kuwait Site office. The individuals must be a degree holder with a minimum of 10 years’ experience and have obtained chartered status. In addition the candidate must have considerable experience of steelwork design
Job Purpose
To provide high level technical/design engineering service to the Structures group on site
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree (BEng) / BSc or Master’s degree (MEng) / MSc
• Chartered Engineer CEng IStructE(UK) or equivalent
Person Specification:
• A Senior Engineer must be able to deliver to the agreed technical standards
• Demonstrate a commitment to CPD and self-learning / development
Key Responsibilities:
o Responsible for checking and ensuring all Structural Steelwork calculation for the project are correct and accurate.
o Responsible for checking contractors structural shop drawings - concrete and steelwork - using the design drawings prepared by Buro Happold
o Be able to coordinate with other members of the site supervision team
o Attend meetings on behalf of Buro Happold where requested to do so.
o Where necessary, chair meetings with the Steelwork contractors where discussions are taking place re steelwork submittals / calculations/ drawings.
o Be able to communicate directly with Client if necessary
o Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved. Ensuring all relevant BH staff are informed of client matters.
o Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests and that BH policy is in keeping with current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice etc.
