Accountant - DHL Express

• To be responsible for ensuring the books of accounts are maintained accurately and are in accordance with network finance policies and international accounting standards.



• Ensure all transactions (cash handling, petty cash and cheque payments, journal entries, cash receipts, etc.) are recorded properly and in accordance to the definition set on NFM (Network Finance Manual) and International Accounting Standard (IAS).



• Review general or nominal ledger entries regularly to minimize if not eliminate adjusting entries and to detect any under or over statement of expenses on time.



• Analyze and compare month on month expenses to attain uniform distribution of cost during the year and make an accrual when appropriate to have consistency in reporting expenses.



• Check all disbursements if fully documented and approved by the authorized person before recording them into the cash book and in accordance to DOAG set locally or globally.



• Review suppliers’ invoices to ensure if procurement is within purchasing procedures and capital expenditure policy and also ensuring that no double payment is made.



• Prepare schedules to support balance sheet accounts and ensure that these are reconciled against general or nominal ledger balances immediately after month-end closing (i.e. fixed assets, prepayments, bank reconciliation, accruals, etc.) and have a back up all files as part of the disaster recovery plan.



• Ensure that inter-company transactions are reconciled every month and within the framework as agreed by all participating countries in the area or region.



• Review internal accounting controls to identify weaknesses and make recommendations immediately (i.e. cash sales reconciliation, customs duty administration, etc.) and internal or external auditors reports have to be implemented.



• Assist in the preparation of Annual Operating Plan and ensure accurate data and regional guidelines are achieved.
