Maternal and Child Health Counsellor

- Key Duties:



• Co-ordinate health education programs with direction, consultation and guidance from MCH section of PHCC.



• Providing to individuals or groups information and counselling on proper nutrition, lifestyle modifications, hygiene, travel, sleep patterns, relationship management, healthy weight gain, skincare, hydration, physical exercise, physical and mental wellbeing (this list is not exhaustive)



• Education on an individual basis with women and in group session classes to women (and separately to couples classes) regarding all relevant aspects of emotional and social wellbeing, pregnancy, labour, pain relief, breastfeeding, pelvic and physical exercises, future birth spacing. Preparation for returning to work for those applicable (this list is not exhaustive).



• Education to women and family members regarding aspects of newborn, infant and older child care, including

importance of breastfeeding, options for infant feeding, baby safety, child care basics, developmental stages, vaccinations, weaning, nutritional advice, exercise ( this list is not exhaustive).



• Signposting and raising awareness for all aspects of well woman screening - cervical and breast, through to information on menopause. The importance of all child health screening activities in Qatar.



• Communicate openly with PHCC’s multidisciplinary team to ensure attainment of best outcomes for service users, enabling of shared ideas, review of care plans, successful completion of medical orders, and agreement on schedules of care with each professional as appropriate.

• Ensure client confidentiality is upheld at all times. Appropriate use of professional and confidential methods of internal and external referral to another health care team member as necessary.

• Ensure that all MCH related health promotion activities are widely understood and advocated by individuals but also communities to ensure far reaching consequence and positive outcomes for our current and future generations.
