Lead the development of strategy, policies, guidelines, standards and regulations for special education in Abu Dhabi in coordination with the divisions to enable an active change in educational standards, support and levels of inclusion for students with special education requirements;
Establish processes for Emirate-wide screening of students to assess the teaching and learning needs for students with special education requirements (students with learning and physical disabilities, audio/visual impairment, exceptional gifts/talents, accelerated students);
Oversee development of special education curricula and programs in coordination with Curriculum and Assessment Divisions to ensure access for students with special educational requirements;
Lead extensive research and development initiatives of special needs educational requirements, to actively improve on Sector’s capabilities on an ongoing basis;
Oversee the development of Specialist teacher training and instruction material to ensure programs provide a high quality learning experience for students;
Lead and develop international exchange programs with special education providers;
Lead the communication of Education Special Programs to ensure public awareness and local community support;
Transmit strategies, policies, guidelines, standards and regulations to School Operations, Private School & Quality Assurance and Technical & Professional Education Sectors
