The Project
Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic (SESP) is based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and began training operations in September 2012. Presently, there are two SESP training centres in operation: SESP-Baish located in Jizan Province, and SESP-Juaymah located near Dammam in the Eastern Province. SESP plans to open SESP-Riyadh in the Central Province in August 2014 and SESP-Jouf in the Northern Province in early 2015.
Trainees at each SESP campus study English, Health and Safety, Science, Mathematics and various technical disciplines during their two-year study program. All of the trainees are either high school or technical college graduates and study for 30 contact periods per week. Class sizes average between 15-17 trainees. The curriculum including testing and measuring is based on a 14-week trimester system (SESP-Baish campus only) or a 10-week quarter system with breaks between each training cycle.
The Role
Kaplan International Colleges, with Saudi Electric Services Polytechnic (SSEP) is currently seeking applications from qualified Technical Bridging Instructors. Technical Bridging Instructors need to be certified trades persons with either an Electrical or Mechanical trade (for example, electrician, fitter, turner or a fitter and turner, welder, boiler maker). Electrician and fitters and turners are preferable trades, with post trade education diplomas, basic maths, science and health & safety.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Certified trade person with an Electrical or Mechanical trade (ie: electrician, fitter, turner, welder, boiler maker)
- An English Language (ELT) or other teaching qualification (e.g. PG Cert, PGCE, DELTA)
- Experience of managing academic and/or student support services in an international and/or further and/or higher education context.
- Experience of leading quality assurance and enhancement processes preferably in an educational context.
- Knowledge of the educational systems, landscape and aspirations of Saudi Arabia.
- Strong IT skills including MS Office and Excel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Applies a variety of quality teaching and learning strategies underpinned by sound educational theory.
- Delivers high quality learning experiences using a variety of technology that provides for individual learning needs, incorporates literacy and numeracy, and enables students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
- Develops and maintains supportive relationships with and between learners by ensuring a culturally safe learning environment that accommodates a wide range of perspectives and provides for individual learning and support needs.
- Plans and prepares in advance current teaching resources, lesson plans, learning outcomes, effective blended delivery methods and effective assessment methods etc for all modules.
Salary and benefits
- Annual salary: SAR 270,000.00
