The role:
As an Assistant Category Manager, you will be exposed to many different aspects of retail including marketing, supply chain, product sourcing, store event planning, international food show visits and visual merchandising.
As part of your duties, you will be required to support the Category Manager in choosing ranges, forecasting and placing orders, working closely with store teams to drive sales, and maximising profits. At the same time you will take an active role in helping to reduce wastage levels. The role also involves working and helping to build lasting business relationships with both local and international suppliers, so excellent communication skills are a must.
Qualifications and Requirements
You must possess:
● A bachelors' degree in a relevant field (e.g. Retail Management, Business Management, Marketing, Food Technology) OR relevant hands on experience in retail training (management training programs, graduate training schemes, etc. ideally within food)
● Excellent communication skills
● A genuine passion for food
● Keen attention to detail
● A high level of focus, organisation, adaptability, and self-motivation
● A career-orientated mind-set with a desire to progress within the organisation
● Experience of taking on project work is an advantage.
