On behalf of our client one of the leading Specialist Hospitals in Saudi Arabia we have an opening for an Infectious Disease Specialist. Responsible to the Chief of Internal Medicine/Deputy, Chief of Internal Medicine. You will be responsible for Residents. Daily contact with patients, their families, nurses, internists, ward physicians and physicians of the other Specialty Medical Services and Ambulatory Services Departments. Also in close contact with the infection control personnel and bacteriology laboratory personnel. You will be responsible to provide specialised services in the diagnosis and management of patients with infectious disease. Duties & Responsibilities The infectious disease specialist is a staff member of the Internal Medicine Service Division of the Specialty Medical Services Department. Responsibilities are divided between the outpatient internal medicine clinic and in patient services: consultations and admissions of his time, procedures, and infection control activities and antibiotic utilization review of his time. He performs his duties under the professional supervision of the Chief of Internal Medicine Service. To perform the professional duties of an infectious disease specialist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the Chief of Internal Medicine Service and approved by the Credentials Committee. • To perform duties in the internal medicine clinic, evaluating patients with infectious diseases and general internal medicine disciplines. • To provide care to patients in the intensive care unit and medical wards • Performs routine procedures, in patient consultations, infection control activities and antibiotic utilization review activities. • To share in the on call duties of the Internal Medicine Service. The infectious disease specialist is an internist as well as an infection control specialist and is expected to perform all the duties performed by an internist (refer to duties of internist). • Provides after working hours on call emergency coverage for infectious disease emergencies. • Provides consultation service to the Infection Control Committee and Antibiotic Utilization Review Committee and the bacteriology laboratory service. • Participates in the monthly staff meeting of the Internal Med Service. • Attends and contributes to the daily morning Chief's conference for the purpose of review of admissions and management problems. • Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service: weekly grand rounds, and the general physician’s once monthly conferences. • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Chief of service (. Committee membership). Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review) • Supervises the work of ward residents, professional development physicians and interns, and provides his evaluation of their work at the request of the Chief of Service. • Performs duties in general internal medicine clinics/wards as assigned by the Chief of Service and as workload dictates.
