NAWAH (North America Western Asia Holdings) is an investment and advisory firm founded in 2011. NAWAH has long term plans to invest in Iraqi companies and infrastructure to take advantage of the growing economy. This is an exciting time for NAWAH as they have entered into an agreement with Iraq's Ministry of Transportation to modernise Basra's al-Maqal Port to assist with the increasing shipping demand.
This is a critical appointment that would initially involve creating the entire financial function including financial processes and controls, but also oversee all operations in the Middle-East. Although the commercial centre will be based in Dubai, a large portion of NAWAH's operation will be based around operations in Basra, Iraq. The Financial Controller will have full responsibility for both Middle-Eastern subsidiaries. One will focus on the running and development of the al-Maqal Port whilst the other will provide Supply and Distribution services. Due to the operational locations, the Controller will need to develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Iraqi CFO.
Some of the responsibilities are outlined below but not limited to.
• Establishing strong financial and internal controls.
• Establishing and maintaining a treasury function in both Dubai and Iraq. This involves banking relationships and performance.
• Working with management to develop and maintain the company's financial policies and procedures.
• Preparing accurate Financial Reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Hiring and overseeing transactional finance staff. (AP/AR/Payroll based in Dubai and Iraq)
• Full responsibility for collating financial data for external audit and other regulatory review.
• Preparing and monitoring detailed cash flow forecasts
• Compliance with USGAAP, IFRS and FCPA due to US parent company.
