The Technical Officer (TO) is responsible to oversee the quality of construction, electrical and water/sanitation work for a shelter rehabilitation programme. He/She will ensure the work is carried out meets safety standards and the expected quality, budget and timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Make final technical evaluation of the shelter to be included in the programme.
2. Prepare plan, budget and BOQ for repair, maintenance or rehabilitation of the unit.
3. Offer technical assistance to the work done in the unit to improve it into healthy living conditions, adequate protection against the elements, privacy, and security.
4. Ensure that the work is being implemented effectively and in compliance with donor, Medair, beneficiary accountability, and other professional standards.
5. Support outreach staff and liaise with beneficiaries, landlords and contractors / construction workers.
6. Prepare field project reports per intervention.
7. Maintain a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure with the Medair team, with communities, beneficiaries and donors.
8. Be flexible, willing to assist in other areas of work as relevant and needed.
