Technical Management:
- Maintain the availability of critical communication tools like emails, phones, internet connection that eases the communication between staff, management and learners.
- Initiate, maintain and improve the university business continuity plan related to information technology, including a disaster recovery plan, and perform constant test recoveries to ensure applicability.
- Manage the maintenance of datacentre, and ensure the maintenance of hardware, software, virtualization, testing, 3rd party testing, optimized performance, availability/efficiency of fire fighting systems, efficiency of cooling systems, UPS systems, etc.
- Supervise the backup of the systems that includes Emails/Exchange servers, Servers, Business and E-Learning systems, client files, active directories, SQL databases. Also ensure that the backup have many copies and some outside the premises.
- Apply best security standards that include hardware and software security systems, Antivirus, and physical security like Access controls. Also providing secure local & remote access to all University computing resources.
- Manage the maintenance of virtual systems and ensure its availability, also monitor the innovation of virtual technologies and provide plans to upgrade current ones if applicable.
- Enable other KTD sections by providing them constant support and adequate hardware and software resources, and provide them with testing environment.
- Operate and communicate IT standards, policies and procedures pertinent to information technology for the ISMS (ISO 27001:2005).
- Innovate and continuously explore new emerging technologies and assess them to see how they may be useful to the university.
- Evaluate IT security architectures and monitor implementation to ensure high degree protection against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction and disclosure of information.
- Evaluate, select and implement innovative and up-to-date IT platforms that are versatile, reliable and scalable.
- Manage the back office computer operations of the information systems, including local area networks and wide-area networks.
- Manage all computing and networking equipment in an efficient way.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting infrastructure, telecommunication and security.
- Administrate and maintain the computer stations and infrastructure software and provides additional support if necessary.
Resources Management:
- Ensure effective section performance through the selection, development, deployment and motivation of competent staff.
- Ability to recruit, train, motivates, lead and retain personnel in the discharge of their duties.
- Take a leading role in establishing strategic relationships with key hardware and software suppliers and consultants.
- Build and maintain vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products.
