Purchasing Manager - Legrand

Role:



Carry out purchasing and procurement of components, raw materials and miscellaneous items for the subsidiary, at the best price, complying with conditions in terms of quantity, lead times and quality as presented in the specifications, allowing the subsidiary to carry out production and continuously improve customer service.



Activities



Canvassing of suppliers of raw materials and goods:

The holder of the position performs market studies on suppliers and products. He assesses the ability of suppliers to supply products in accordance with technical criteria and according to the conditions set out in specifications.

He manages referencing of suppliers and products. He attends trade fairs and performs technical monitoring to attain true knowledge of the market.



Participation in the definition of internal needs:

The holder of the position coordinates communication with internal client services (design, production, quality, etc.) in order to draft the most accurate specifications. He participates in the products and service’s needs-defining phase using his technical and market knowledge to answer questions of feasibility.



Negotiation and follow-up of contracts:

He identifies suppliers and produces calls for tenders in accordance with Group rules. He assesses the validity and reliability of suppliers and of their sales proposals. He negotiates the conditions and clauses of purchase contracts and drafts these contracts in conjunction with the technical, legal and finance departments. He ensures that contractual conditions are respected (lead times, quality, price, etc.).

He oversees ongoing improvement of the subsidiary's purchasing conditions and proposes ways to improve P&L.

He ensures that the sources chosen for all raw materials allow optimisation of the TCO.





Interfaces and activity reporting:

The holder of the position plays a role in implementing the Group market purchasing strategy within his scope. He is responsible for the purchasing portion of new product development in accordance with the division and Group market purchasing strategies.

He writes the subsidiary's purchasing reporting for the Group Purchasing Department and performs regular reporting on the follow-up of the business to his direct supervisor.

He drafts and communicates the Purchasing procedure and ensures that it is applied.



Aims:



Guarantee implementation of the purchasing strategy for the subsidiary and report information on application risks to the Group Purchasing Department.



Guarantee a panel of suppliers and subcontractors whose negotiated conditions will allow the subsidiary to acquire the materials and goods of the required quality and quantity within the required lead times at highly competitive prices.



Monitor changes in the market and among sector suppliers and constantly seek improvements in terms of costs and solutions.
