Job Purpose:M
The Riding school Head is directly responsible for the daily supervision, running of and organization of the Riding school staff, members, horses, lessons and equestrian activities. The nature of this role requires expert knowledge of horses and horsemanship, confident leadership abilities, on the spot prioritising and wise decision-making even during stressful periods and the desire to be a positive influence as well as mentor and instructor in all aspects of horsemanship to both staff and riding school members.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Managing, recruiting, terminating, training and monitoring staff and supporting staff development.
Assigns daily work schedules for instructors and handles staff rotation.
Ensuring staff and riding school member’s adherence to safety regulations.
Ensuring safety, well being and health of horses and is responsible for overseeing and developing daily care/regimen of horses (grooming, feeding, school work-load, cleaning stables).
Provide quality service and instruction to all member riders by providing them with an environment that is clean, professional, safe and fun in which to learn and develop their skills.
Purchasing new equipment and insuring that all riding equipment (new and used) is maintained, checked on a regular basis and adheres to safety rules and regulations.
Review, improve and carry out safety and emergency procedures as they relate to Equestrian activities.
Maintaining all areas of riding school (pastures, paddocks, arenas, tack room, stables) to a high standard of performance and safety together ( with assistance from facilities section).
Receive, investigate and resolve queries, problems complaints from school members with patience, tolerance and diplomacy.
Record and report accidents.
Responsible for financial management of the riding school, maintains inventories on all assets and compiles monthly and yearly reports and administer budgets, in accordance with finance dept of Al- Shaqab.
Yearly/regular evaluation of the riding school productivity and performance and planning new activities, implementing new programs and techniques to meet changing demands by staying abreast of industry trends.
Planning regular shows, competitions, gymkhanas and other riding school activities that promotes the growth and continual development if riding school members skills and experience.
Develop programs to continually assess and measure progress of both staff and riding school members allocating them to suitable teaching riding levels.
Work with the marketing and communications department to arrange and develop media and advertising campaigns and associated products to raise general public awareness of riding school and its activities, (internet site, pamphlets, leaflets, brochures, press conferences, etc.).
Oversee. Develop, change when necessary, the Riding school curriculum and examination system.
Provide regular clinics, training courses and workshops (for staff and riders) to promote equine health awareness in tandem with the Equestrian section.
Ensure instructor certification and qualification is maintained.
Familiarize, understand and implement QF health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, legal regulations and objectives applicable to areas of responsibility. Ensures coordination with HSE department in implementing, monitoring and reviewing of HSE performance to ensure work under his/her control is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner.
