Community Engagement and Participation Coordinator is an active role that is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs to the diverse cultural communities of Qatar, with a focus on families, schools, creative organizations, youth, and non-traditional museum-going audiences in general. The candidate will work closely with each section within the education department to establish its needs and best ways to engage with its target audience.
• Support Head of Education with visibility of Museum as a community and educational resource
• Create short and long-term strategic plan for Education Department’s outreach strategy
• Work with the Specialist from each section within Education
• Develop on-site programs:
o Educational workshops
o Classes
o Public Events
o Professional Development programs
• Develop off-site programs to reach audiences not likely to come to Mathaf building
• Liaise and work closely with Museum communications department
•Connect with community organizations and schools to promote Museum.
• Determine, create and maintain relationships with “relevant” target audiences
• Identify and train staff that act as “Museum Ambassadors”: part-time staff, volunteers, interns, teaching artists, other individuals that serve as resource for programs
• Represents the museum at special events and other appropriate events and activities as requested
• Maintain database and departmental files of contacts and pertinent administrative and content related information.
• Investigate tools to reach target audiences: membership, social media, etc.
• Guide visitors on an educational visits throughout the galleries at Museum
• Carry out administrative tasks related to the position
• Active team member and assists colleagues within the education department where needed
• Perform minor physical tasks, such as light lifting and assisting with workshops and events set up, when needed
