Pump Operator

Job Description:

To operate pumps and chlorinators in the Water Stations inclusive of the reservoir sites and water towers simultaneously.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 Checks regularly the operations of pumps, valves, chlorine equipment, reservoirs and related appurtenance (standby diesel generators).

 Check reservoir‟s dip levels manually twice in a shift

 Operates pumps, valves, chlorinator, check chlorine etc.

 Records hourly reading of reservoirs level, distillate flow, pump status, rising main flow and pressure, electricity consumption on hourly basis in his eight (8) hour shift.

 Maintain log book and record all abnormalities to be reported to NWCC/OS.

 Monitor Chlorine & Chlorine dioxide and Operates chlorinator by either mixing bleaching powder or starting gas chlorination system according to the required residual.

 Reports every fault inside reservoir, like small leaks, gas leaks etc, also reports every maintenance work (Instruments, Mechanical, Electrical).

 Maintain clean control building, pump house and chlorination building.

 Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the immediate supervisor.

Qualification Requirements:

 Technical diploma holder or higher

Job Experience

 Minimum 5 years as Pump Operator.

 Previous knowledge experience with SCADA operation is a must.

Work Environment

 Work with chemicals & hazardous materials and is manually involved, material handling requires phisical cabability and safety awareness.



Valve Operator

Job Description:

Valve operator will do activities such as opening, closing and throttling, pressure monitoring, shutdown, regular flushing, checking of pipe condition have been increased to a large extent.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 Operate all valves as and when required.

 Write defect notification to supervisor for all defects in transmission and distribution mains.

 Isolate the valves during any incidents of pipe break or shut down of main line for any interconnection or maintenance work.

 Resume water supply after repair work

 Checks the area pressure/monitoring after the repair work

 Daily valving operations for areas which are supplied less than 24 hrs. Water supply.

 Dewater of all valve pits including reservoir chambers.

 Routine air releasing from fire hydrant for all distribution mains.

 Submit to supervisors daily and monthly reports.

 Supervise the valve helpers

 Other jobs assigned by the supervisor

Qualification Requirements:

 Should be at least Technical Course graduate

 Should have basic knowledge about water networks apparatuses and tools such as valves types (SV, BV, NRV, PRV etc…) washouts, air valves, Fire Hydrants valve keys, data loggers, pressure recorder/gauge, etc. Preferably, should know how to operate clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter and leak detector for valve integrity test.

 Should be able to read and understand location maps and water network schematic and GIS drawings.

Job Experience

 Minimum 5 years as Valve Operator in a similar industry.

Work Environment

 90% site work, 10% office, material handling requires phisical cabability and safety awareness
