Director, ICA, SEMED - EBRD

The ICA SEMED sector team is part of the Industry, Commerce & Agribusiness Business Group, composed of a number of teams and transacts business across the EBRD's SEMED region across a number of industries. The ICA Business Group includes the Agribusiness, Equity Funds (EF), Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Manufacturing & Services (M&S) and Property & Tourism (P&T) sector teams, the Equity product team, as well as the Business Development Team. The operations are guided by the relevant sector and country strategies which help prioritise activities in the SEMED region across sectors. The Director must also be aware of other cross-cutting initiatives in the Bank, with a view to implementing these initiatives through the teams' project-based activities and in coordination with the country teams.



Key Responsibilities and Deliverables



* Propose for approval by the Managing Director, in co-operation with the ICA sector Directors and SEMED Group Managing Director, country Directors and Heads of ROs, the strategic direction and operational goals for the Bank in ICA SEMED. Advise the Managing Director on all sector related operational and strategic matters, prepare proposals for the annual business plan and budget and provide inputs for the Group business plans.

* Assume responsibility, together with the relevant sector Director, for the origination, structuring, execution, implementation and monitoring of investment projects across all ICA projects in SEMED, ensuring that the quality of financial analysis, transaction structuring, implementation and monitoring of projects meet the highest standards, further the EBRD's transition mandate and achieve the annual business plan for ICA SEMED. The quantitative and qualitative objectives of the annual scorecard support the annual objects for the ICA Business Group, SEMED Group and the annual business plan of the Bank.

* Advise and supervise bankers in project structuring, with special emphasis on credit risk mitigation, transition challenges, impact and rating. Ensure that quality of debt and equity transaction structuring and implementation, is consistent with the Bank's Strategy for each country in the SEMED region and EBRD standards.

* Assume responsibility for policy dialogue activities in ICA SEMED working closely with the SEMED country teams, ensuring suitability of the activity, quality of the advice and integration with other Bank efforts and cross-cutting themes.

* Review and approve ICA SEMED projects and project documentation for examination and approval by the Bank's Operations Committee (including the Small Business Investment Committee) and Board. Ensure the quality and thoroughness of inter-departmental consultation on such projects prior to Committee and Board review and of their presentation. Responsible for presentation of relevant policy and strategic documents to SPCom/Excom/Risk Com and Board Committees as well as putting in place arrangements for their subsequent implementation as applicable/relevant.

* Actively develop and manage relationships with clients, private investors, operators and local, regional and central/federal government authorities, as well as with senior officials of national and multi-lateral institutions. Represent the Bank at relevant conferences and assume functions such as Board and Supervisory Board membership on investee companies' boards.

* Coordinate with the Directors of country teams and Heads of Resident Offices project development and implementation and policy dialogue, ensuring an optimal use of Bank's resources, and contribute to the preparation of country strategies.
