In addition to providing internal consultancy on legal matters, the Head of Legal is responsible for establishing the policy framework, standard templates, reporting processes, compliance training and monitoring changes to legislation and commercial contracts in order to minimize business impacts.
1. Using legal expertise to form strategies and measures to ensure legal protection of an organization
2. Establishing policies, procedures and authority levels with respect to legal matters
3. Managing all commercial activities related to contracts - lease agreements, franchise contracts, partnerships etc.
4. Reading and understanding the contracts & agreements in order to identify and address possible problems and to make sure that the terms & conditions are in the interest of the company
5. Ensuring the compliance with, and timely renewals of, all the licenses, contracts, agreements and permits of the organization
6. Providing advice about new projects and keeping the organization safe from any possible legal litigation
7. Ensure legal compliance of all activities of an organization and protect the company from all legal litigations
8. Performing investigations, handling all court cases and resolving disputes about commercial legal litigations
9. Providing inputs to form business deals and contracts
10. Supporting internal investigations where appropriate
11. Preparing reports, letters and agreements
12. Training staff on compliance matters in order to reduce breach risks
13. Maintaining an appropriate data base for recording all legal documents and ensuring the required confidentiality
14. Establishing an audit framework to identify areas of non-compliance and risk and recommend remedial action in conjunction with business leaders
