The College

The College of Education’s mission is to prepare graduates who will become exemplary teachers, school administrators and future leaders in the UAE. Strong alliances with the Ministry of Education, the Education Councils, Education Zones, and other governmental and private agencies, combined with the UAE’s commitment to school reform, positions the College of Education to expand its faculty and programs in strategic ways to lead the major school reform movement now underway. Accredited by CAEP/NCATE, the College offers Master’s degrees in educational leadership, teaching and learning, and special education, and anticipates expansion of programs at the graduate level. Additionally, the College has an Early Childhood Learning Center that is a model for research and application into early child development, including biliteracy, scientific thinking and numeracy, as well as child development. Since all faculty have opportunities to be involved in professional development programs for teachers and school leaders, experience in this area is a plus. Faculty with experience in the teacher education field and those in related fields who want to be part of a College that is influencing the educational landscape of an entire nation are urged to apply.

The vision of the Early Childhood Learning Center is to be a state-of-the-art inclusive early childhood learning experience where children’s development is nurtured through interactivity, play, and an atmosphere of exploration. In addition to serving the needs of some of the youngest UAE citizens, the Early Childhood Learning Center will also function as a training center for early childhood teachers, center directors, and early intervention specialists. A third component of the center’s mission is research.
