Research Awards Officer - College of the North Atlantic - Qatar

The Research Awards Officer supports College of the North Atlantic-Qatar faculty, employees, and students in their research activity by providing high quality, customer oriented administrative support for research programs. This support includes but is not limited to the development and review of external and internal funding proposals, the creation and facilitation of professional research development of CNAQ researchers and the financial monitoring of research awards within the Office of Applied Research and Innovation (OARI). The position reports directly to the Chair of the Office of Applied Research and Innovation.

Primary duties include

• Checking proposals for compliance with college and sponsor policies, procedures and guidelines

• Reviewing proposals for accuracy and completeness and providing written feedback to college faculty regarding necessary changes and suggestions for proposal enhancement

• Communicating with all CNA-Q researchers regarding proposal development, submission and opportunities

• Identifying trends within proposal submissions to assist in building training tools for faculty members

• Assisting faculty with administrative forms and/or using QNRF’s and others’ electronic system for grant submissions

• Creating and developing tools and research training workshops using appropriate software and assisting with and/or conducting presentations as needed.

• Creating/refining budgets, reviewing budgets for institutional commitments and adherence to institutional policies; drafting budget justification text for proposal inclusion based on approved budgets

• Maintaining OARI files on projects’ post-award financial activity

• Maintaining a database to monitor college-wide proposal activity and outcomes

• Researching and providing factual information about sponsor policies, procedures and guidelines to researchers

• Confirming institutional commitment approvals with Deans, Chairs and faculty

• Other duties as may be assigned
