Expediter /Logistics Assistant - Weill Cornell Medical College

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Director of Procurement & Business Services, this position reports directly to the Purchasing Agent, providing operational support to Procurement & Services Division. This position has full responsibility for logistics and services as delegated by the procurement department.



Position Activities:

• The expediter position supports the purchasing department in obtaining delivery information and documentation for incoming shipments.

• Constantly reviews our Purchase Orders to determine the delivery status of material and documentation.

• Report to supervisor about extended delivery dates and/or non-receipt of orders.

• Provides feedback to end-users on delivery status of their orders.

• Liaising with shipping companies, clearing agents and transport providers on the export and import processes.

• Provides technical and commercial information relating to quality certificates, data sheets, packing lists, commercial invoice and all necessary documents for shipping.

• Maintain shipping history files and allow for proper and perpetual documentary database.

• Must be detail oriented, accurate and have the ability to solve logistics challenges with the support of his supervisor.

• Verify the shipping documents such as Packing List, Shipping Invoice, Country Of Origin Cert, Bill of Lading, insurance Certifications etc. and ensure necessary approval are in place (Chamber of Commerce endorsement).

• Verify suitable packing and shipping methods.
