Laboratory Chemist - JOSLOC

JOB PURPOSE : To assist the PQA Manager and senior chemist in managing the daily activities of the Laboratory to ensure achievement of Laboratory targets while maintaining HSE, quality and related JOSLOC procedures.



MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES



Policies, Processes and Procedures

• Implement approved section policies, processes, and procedures and monitors adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.

Day- to-day operations

• Applies the day-to-day activities assigned to laboratory to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures in addition to managing personnel under him.

Job Specific

• Supports PQA Manager and senior chemist quality related (technical and administrative) aspects and to ensure optimal standards are met and related production targets achieved.

• Checks that all product samples are tested following related procedures as schedule to ensure that all blended and filled products passing the Shell quality standards within the shortest possible time as planned on daily basis.

• Attends to minor problems and coordinating with operation sections on aspects requiring special attention to ensure minimal production delay.

• Performs laboratory operations and approval of received samples of incoming base oil and additive in bulk and drums. To ensure that materials passing Shell quality standards are received and unloaded to designated storage tanks and additives storage for drums.

• Approved the proposed/completed blends and filling notes for the day’s production to ensure that all necessary information is reported.

• Coaches Laboratory technicians on various activities and work by providing informal feedback to ensure that all work within laboratory is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with set individual targets. Actively help in managing personnel under him.

• Performs duties and responsibilities of Laboratory Senior Chemist during his leave



Reporting

• Prepares or contributes to the preparation of section reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet JOSLOC requirements, policies and standards as related to section.

HSSE

• Ensures compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures across the division in order to promote a healthy and safe work environment

Related Assignments

• Performs other related duties or assignments as directed
