Job Purpose:
The Head Groom supervises the grooms in ensuring the best healthcare of all the horses, cleanliness of the facilities, and on call to assist in all other horse-related activities.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Check food portions given to the horses to ensure that the food schedule devised by the Riding Academy Manager/ Vet is implemented.
Accompany horses in members’ sites to adequately care for them.
Schedule grooms and horses so work is split equally amongst the grooms and the horses receive the best possible care.
Report any irregularities/ injuries to the Stable Supervisor immediately to ensure proper treatment is given to horses.
Coordinate the movement of the assigned horses with the Senior Veterinarian/farrier at the direction of Assistant Manager/ Manager.
Work with Stable Supervisor and Instructors to ensure horses’ beds, health, and care are maintained at all times.
Lets Stable Supervisor know when equipment is running out ( . food, soap, shampoo, wheelbarrow).
Familiarize, understand and implement QF health, safety, and environment policy, procedures, legal regulations and objectives applicable to areas of responsibility. Ensures coordination with HSE department in implementing, monitoring and reviewing of HSE performance to ensure work under his/her control is performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally sound manner.
