Job Purpose:
The Head of Radio Station is a senior role that includes responsibility for the day to day running of the radio station.
The Head of Radio Station has to set the media policy guidelines, manage staff, ensure the on-air product for radio delivery is planned, resourced, timely and of the highest quality to meet QF expectations, oversee the marketing and promotional thrust, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
KEY RESULT AREAS
1. Strategic Management (under direction of and with inputs from Media Center Manager).
Annual Business Plan preparation for the QF Media Center (QF Radio) and KPI setting (key performance indicators and milestones)
Budget setting and annual management of allocated funds.
Technical forecasting and equipment purchase.
Development of various broadcast policies, language, complaints, news etc.
Execute the content development plan as directed and documented by the Media Center manager.
Implement all aspects of program development and planning.
Market development and audience market share plans.
2. Technical
Develop a technical operations manual detailing all agreements and all equipment specifications.
Supplier agreement management, ensuring 24 hours technical support and “on call” capability.
3. Marketing and Publicity
Preparation of an annual publicity plan for QF Radio, with supporting budgets. This must cover local, regional, international publicity.
Audience Survey/ Feedback Management Process Development.
4. Content Development
Execute and feed into the content development plan as directed and documented by the Media Center Manager.
Implement all aspects of program development and planning including
• News/ Sports: Establishment of a Qatar Foundation focused news and sports service, managing staff and contractors charged with delivering content for news. Employing contractors and managing this process.
• Programs: Oversee Program makers/ producers to deliver high quality content.
5. Staff Employment Facilitation, Development & Training
Employment, evaluation and staff succession management planning.
Managing staff issues.
Development of individual training plans for “best practice broadcasting and technical up-skilling”.
6. Keeps good relationships with suppliers, especially research firms, which would enable him to meet deadlines and fulfill some of the most important project requirements.
7. Liaison
Representing QF Radio at functions and events.
Liaison with internal, Education City and key community stakeholders (ICT). Revises the annual media center promotional roadmap to effective marketing/ marketing communications in close coordination with the Marketing Manager, with the purpose of leveraging QF media centers brand equity and listeners/ viewers.
Coordinates with the Marketing Manager concerning all strategic marketing/ marketing communications recommendations to validate all output.
