On behalf of our client one of the leading Specialist Hospitals in Saudi Arabia we have an opening for a Pulmonologist.
Responsible to the Chief of Internal Medicine/Deputy, Chief of Internal Medicine. Responsible for Residents, Specialists and Respiratory Therapists. To provide specialized services in the diagnosis and management of patients with pulmonary diseases.
Scope
The pulmonologist is a staff member of the Internal Medicine Service Division of the Specialty Medical Services Department. Responsibilities are divided between the outpatient pulmonary clinic, general internal medicine clinic and in patient services: consultations and admissions as well as procedures (bronchoscopies, pleural biopsies, pulmonary function tests) and supervision of respiratory therapy service. Works under the professional supervision of the Chief of Internal Medicine Service.
Duties & Responsibilities
To perform the professional duties of pulmonologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the Chief of Internal Medicine Service and approved by the Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
• Performs duties in the internal medicine and pulmonary clinic evaluating patients with pulmonary 'diseases and general internal medicine disciplines.
• Provides care to his patients in intensive care unit and medical wards.
• Performs routine procedures (bronchoscopies, pleural biopsies and pulmonary function tests), as well as inpatient consultations in his area of expertise and provides supervision to the respiratory therapy services.
• Shares in the on call duties of the Internal Medicine Service. The pulmonologist is an internist as well as a pulmonologist and is expected to perform the duties performed by an internist (refer to duties of internist).
• Provides after working hours on call emergency coverage for pulmonology emergencies.
• Provides supervision to the respiratory therapy service and respirative management.
• Participates in the monthly staff meeting of the Internal Medicine Service.
• Attends and contributes to the daily morning Chiefs conference for the purpose of review of admissions and management problems.
• Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service: daily noon conferences, weekly grand rounds, monthly journal club, and the general physician’s twice monthly conferences.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by: the Chief of Service ( membership).
• Participates and contributes to all the quality improvement activities of the service (. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).
• Supervises the work of ward physicians, professional development physicians and interns, and provides his evaluation of their work at the request of the Chief of Service.
• Performs duties in general internal medicine clinics/wards, as assigned by the Chief of Service and as workload dictates
