Job Purpose:
- The Compensation and Benefits Specialist is responsible for all the necessary groundwork related to the suggestion of appropriate compensation and benefits plans for UASC, incentive plans and motivational schemes in order to ensure a competitive status for UASC in the market and serve to raise the productivity and performance levels of UASC employees. This includes Job Analysis, Job Evaluation and Policy Updates.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise Job Descriptions activity and periodically revise them to ensure they reflect the organizational structure and modifications of job responsibilities
- Carry out general reviews of employee compensation and benefits package and introduce flexible benefits programs in line with the market and UASC overall strategic direction
- Maintain the process for job evaluation and grading and ensure that all positions in the Functions, Divisions, Agencies and Trade Offices have up to date evaluations and are appropriately graded for the purpose of administering remuneration and benefits
- Ensure all the salary scales are up to date per country/agency worldwide
- Initiate and or participate in appropriate pay market surveys and /or otherwise procure relevant pay market information, calibrate UASC policy and practice against these and make recommendations to senior management on improvements to UASC’s remuneration and benefits policies and practice
- Execute the implementation of UASC Reward and Performance policies, strategies, guidelines and processes to deliver long term competitive advantage to the business
- Assist in and provide inputs for the development of global reward policies and procedures to ensuring adequate information and support to develop policies and procedures that are aligned with reward objectives (equity, competitiveness and consistency at a global level)
- Prepare comparative analysis between proposals from insurance companies i.e. group medical and life and prepare comparative analyses for the submission to the managements for final approval
- Ensure that anomalies are highlighted through regular review of employees’ pay status in relation to job grades
- Propose/recommend starting salaries for new recruits, based on established guidelines and policies
- Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Compensation activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to internal customers
- Remain abreast of the external environment and industry best practice to recommend reward systems and policies that enhance overall effectiveness and align UASC practices with leading market practices
- Perform any similar or related task as required
