Assistant Retail Manager - Salam International

Operational

1. Assist in formulation and continual upgrading of standards, and managing performance as detailed in the Operations Manual to ensure the efficient operation of the business unit.

2. Assist in implementing and maintaining a HACCP Manual clearly stating department specific policies, procedures and training requirements.

3. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety and Workplace Safety and insurance legislation.

4. Ensure that guest needs are met by providing constant supervision and professional service.

5. Supervise the promotion of the business unit identity by building rapport and a sense of personalized service towards guests.

6. Make recommendations to Management for modernization of equipment, service methods, presentation and improved guest satisfaction.

7. Identify operational challenges and coordinate solutions with colleagues whenever necessary.

8. Participate in regular meetings and briefings to keep employees informed of policies and procedures, special events, further improvement plans and guest comments. Conducts meetings in the absence of the Retail.

9. Assist in ensuring that all safety rules emergency procedures and fire prevention regulations are strictly enforced by employees.

10. Liaise with Procurement to ensure prompt and efficient purchasing, issuing of supplies, stock control and inventory control.

11. Liaise with Stewarding to ensure a high standard of cleanliness, maintenance and adequate provisions of operating equipment.

12. Represent the Retail Manager in his absence.



Marketing & Development

1. Be continually aware of all business unit services and activities to be able to promote the various offerings.

2. Constantly strives to develop and increase sales in order to increase profitability.

3. Provide Management with creative ideas to project and enhance the business units image, increase level of service, guest convenience, or methods to increase revenue.

4. Participate in Public Relations activities, Sales Calls, and other promotional activities designed at enhancing the image and profitability of the business unit.

5. Help to develop and nurture relationships with press contacts, clients and management.

6. Participate in the development of annual promotional activities based on guest feedback and market potential.

7. Play a key role to increase the relevance of our product offering.

8. Maintain awareness of market trends in the catering industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives, and monitoring what local competitors are doing.



Financial & Legal

1. Ensure all transactions are according to company's financial and legal policies and code of ethics.

2. Assist in ensuring that business unit costs are strictly controlled as per Financial Budget.

3. Ensure that adequate records are kept in order to offer statistical analysis.

Human Resources

1. Conduct training courses for new employees, and regular "Refresher" courses for newly hired and existing employees.

2. Assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety, training and development.

3. Ensure that all employees report for duty punctually, maintaining a high standard of personal grooming, wearing the correct uniform and nametag at all times.

4. Assist in developing training and development programmes that may improve personal or departmental standards.

5. Assist in the correct scheduling of employees to maintain standards of service.

6. Ensure that all employees have a complete understanding of and adhere to the business units policy and procedures.

7. Participate in conducting Performance Appraisals for reporting employees to review their general performance, and to discuss existing performance and areas for improvement.

8. Assist in sourcing and monitoring new talents to ensure a thorough development and succession planning.

9. Identify culture champions for further development opportunities.
