Reporting to the Head of Material Sciences, the selected applicant will lead the operation for the Construction materials testing lab with full responsibility for the day-to-day operations. Insure proper application of test procedures, calibration of equipment, and the technical competence and development of laboratory staff.
Expected to have, or rapidly develop, the commercial acumen to manage the commercial viability of the laboratory operations
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Planning and Direction: Ownership of the annual budgeting and business planning processes.
Creating Direction for Laboratory staff in terms of business focus areas; prioritizing actions to contribute to Laboratory growth.
2. Operations:
• Manage the P&L for the Laboratory,
• Quality System Development and Management,
• Management and ongoing review of Accreditation activities
• Preparation of annual Budgeting and ongoing management
• Management and development of construction laboratory team
• Strategy implementation and development of the laboratory including marketing and business development activities
• Operations management including: Cost structure, Performance reviews, KPI development and monitoring, building and sustaining a Quality culture within the Laboratory
• Keep track of all demands concerning the procurement of parts and consumables needed for operations in a timely manner
• Inspect all documentation associated with the instrument and affix the final quality control stamp to the work plan
• Supervise the mobile Test Laboratory and all requirements associated with the Mobile Laboratory prior to its departure to the customer site
3. Stakeholders:• Supervise maintenance of active collaboration with Engineer(s) and Technician and ensure effective and timely exchange of information related to testing activities as well as laboratory operation
• Supervise maintenance of active collaboration with related laboratory units and senior laboratory staff with special regard to practical organization of work, equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
• Supervise maintenance of active collaboration with the Head of Material Science concerning work of the laboratory unit and to support in project planning and executing.
• Supervise maintenance of active communication with the sample management unit as a basis for timely and cost effective sample processing
• Supervise maintenance of active communication and provide support for the related QA unit to ensure compliance
