This is a challenging position responsible of design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain the University network. This person will be comfortable interfacing with customers as well with vendors. The position requires high level of skills and experience to be able to do enhancements and fine-tuning. Must have at least 2 professional certification in area of Networking/security and 3 or more training and certifications from vendors (CISCO, Juniper, Brocade) on network equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and related services
• Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
• Assist in preparation of proposals and solution presentations
• Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software
• Schedules and coordinates upgrades, and routine hardware configuration execution
• Resolves network-related problems on a daily basis.
• In support of change management within the data center, provides high quality network documentation to the Helpdesk (Logical and Physical layouts) of all UAE University sites.
• Responsible for the integration of different types of networks such MPLS, Giga Ethernet.
• Design and executes networking projects at all levels (Site visits, Preparing RFQ / RFP, technical
evaluation, installation, implementation and commission).
• Installs and configures wireless networks across various campuses of the university.
• Advanced Network Troubleshooting including packet captures and analysis.
• Upgrades networks and provides high level of support at all times.
• Ensures LAN / WAN and research networks continuous functionality.
• Responsible for coordinating troubleshooting and problem solving of structured cabling systems, active network, core/edge devices and wireless access points.
• Responsible for ongoing support and maintenance of wired and wireless networks in all housing units (Hostels) for the students of the university.
• Provide resolutions for incidents that have been active past acceptable resolution times
• Research, test and validate potential solutions in order to meet requirements generated through strategy
• Create ad-hoc scripts/tools to perform bulk data analysis
• Other duties as assigned
