CH2M HILL Planning Engineer - Doha, Qatar


Job Purpose:



The Expressways Projects are a programme of 28 highway projects within Qatar that have been divided into 9 Groups. Halcrow is tendering for the design (from Preliminary) and construction supervision of a number of the Groups. The projects are typically urban or sub-urban and so are complex in nature and will require interface management with stakeholders and adjacent projects. The Groups are typically QR5Bn construction cost.



This requisition form is for the role of Planning Engineer. The Planning Engineer is required to implement and monitor the project programmes.



Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:





The Planning Engineer reports to the Senior Planning Engineer. Responsible for the effective establishment and monitoring of project delivery programmes.





• Review key aspects of the project contract.



• Assist with planning/scheduling activities that support the overall project requirements



• Works on project programme and cost reporting aspects on projects and programs.



• Establishes effective project management and controls systems that compliment the project’s reporting systems and that integrate into the project systems. Monitors, refines and improves the reporting and controls tools as required.



• Assists Sr. Planner in establishing accurate and complete project progress and cost reporting and project controls deliverables.



• Evaluates, selects, and adapts programme management and control techniques, procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devises and implements solutions to problems encountered.



Basic Qualifications



Job Requirements:



Job Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:



Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Must have a certification in planning and scheduling of projects and in using Primavera applications (Primavera Project Management /P6 and Primavera Contract Management/ Expedition) and cost engineering.

Minimum 10 years post graduate experience of which 3 should be in a similar role with engineering consultancy or project management consultancy. Completed at least one project in same role that is comparable in complexity and size to the project.

At least 10 years project management experience in planning, scheduling and cost engineering including at least 3 years using Primavera Project Management (P6), Primavera Contract Management (Expedition).

Good oral and written English Language, with good report writing, analytical and computer skills.

Extensive knowledge and experience in project planning, budgeting, cost phasing and control from the project initiation to close out phases, utilizing computer based Primavera applications, within the framework of an integrated project services function for the effective management of a wide range of concurrent projects, to meet the business plan objectives.

Preferably, have minimum 3 years experience in the gulf region.

Familiarity with the techniques for schedule impact analysis, and preferably conversant with the standard forms of Contracts used in PWA projects.
