OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering



TEAM PURPOSE:

• To support gathering of and analysing protection issues affecting refugees from Syria and the Lebanese populations in selected areas in Beqaa region of Lebanon

• To support Syrians displaced from Syria to gain access to useful, reliable and accurate information about their entitlements, basic and specialist services that can enhance their protection and safety.

• To promote social cohesion between Syrian refugees and host population.



JOB PURPOSE:

To lead in monitoring protection issues and lead in preparing for community-level information sessions about basic and specialist protection services



REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to: Protection programme officer

Staff reporting to this post: None



DIMENSIONS:

• Protection information gathering and analysis following strict guidelines on confidentiality, do no harm and conflict-sensitive principles

• Providing information on services and facilitating referrals

• Liaising with field offices of humanitarian agencies for our information dissemination activities

• Preparation of written protection updates following the Oxfam and UNHCR formats

• Preparing weekly and monthly plans and facilitation of community awareness sessions on basic and specialist protection services using approaches that promote gender equality





KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct focus group discussions, interviews and observations to obtin information about protection issues faced by refugees from Syria and Lebanese host populations

• Prepare for the community consultations and orientation sessions about refugee rights, entitlements, registration, basic and specialist services in the districts

• Support the programme officer and work with local NGO partners and community groups to coordinate community based orientation sessions - working with counterpart in partner organisation where possible

• Follow-up with INGOs and UN about requests and invitations for the community sessions

• Follow-up INGOs and UNHCR about brochures and other information materials for distribution to refugees

• Explore sites and support in negotiating these locations for developing notice boards for announcement about refugee services

• In collaboration with the MEAL team, submit monthly MEAL reports to track the beneficiary numbers of the information dissemination and referral activities and ensure regular update of protection and complaint database

• Support possible protection advocacy research

• Provide written feedback about protection incidents, issues and aid-related community-conflicts
