English Faculty
The post holder is responsible for preparing EFL teaching materials, delivering English lessons and assessing student performance in English across a range of CERT Institute of Language programs, at all levels, from Beginner to Advanced. This is with the aim of facilitating the development of the trainees’ overall linguistic ability, in order to be able to function effectively in an international environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Deliver EFL lessons to students in an active learning environment, developing and utilizing the varied learning resources available to provide effective, innovative and appropriate instruction.
• Prepare course materials, such as, class materials, homework assignments and handouts.
• Communicate course and programme-related information to students in a clear and timely manner.
• Write, administer and mark students' coursework, class assessment, and system exams.
• Contribute to the planning, evaluation and revision of curricula, course content and course materials.
• Be available to travel to any location in UAE for designated meetings, workshops, system-wide assessment and conferences, as part of your duties.
• Maintain student attendance records, marks and other required student records.
• Communicate information on progress and performance to students and other appropriate persons.
• Participate in college and system assessment moderation processes as required.
• Develop and maintain your own skills in the assessment of writing and speaking in according with the CERT Banding System.
• Seek accreditation as an IELTS examiner, as required.
• Participate, as required, in student recruitment, registration and placement activities.
• Participate, as required, in the administering and marking of all college and system wide English assessments, including CEPA.
• Maintain regular office hours in order to advise and assist students.
• Be available as part of a cover schedule to substitute for colleagues absences.
• Participate in an annual Performance Enhancement Programme in co-operation with your Chair.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, discussions with colleagues, participation in HCT & college professional development, as well as, professional conferences.
• Perform administrative duties, such as, serving as course team leader, as required.
• Contribute to and observe college and system-wide policies and procedures.
• Organize, accompany and supervise students on field trips, where required.
• Respect the traditions, customs and culture of the UAE.
Supervision Received
• Report to an Academic Chair designated by the College Director
Communications
• Extensive communications with management, faculty, support staff and students of the College and other colleges in the system, Central Services and Academic Services. Further communications with VIPS, visitors from the business community, families of students and the college community at large.
