There are a number of steps involved in the selection process to participate in our selection event:

Step 1: Application

Fill out the online application form. Receipt of your application will be confirmed by email.

Step 2: Skype interview

If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to participate in a Skype interview which will cover a number of areas as well as testing your language skills.

Step 3: Selection Event

Upon successful completion of the Skype interview, you will be invited to The Hague (if you applied for a position in The Hague) or Munich (if you applied for a position in Munich) to participate in our selection event, lasting 1 - 2 days. You will also be asked to complete an online personality questionnaire and online ability tests (numerical and verbal reasoning) before attending the event.

The selection event will comprise one or more face-to-face interviews, which will evaluate your language skills and professional skills. It is also an opportunity for candidates to find out more about the European Patent Office via presentations and meeting current EPO staff. Candidates can discover more about the job of European patent examiner, a role which demands a unique combination of scientific expertise, analytical thinking, language skills and an interest in intellectual property law.

Please note that there are only a limited number of places available for these events. Suitable candidates who are not selected for this Spring Event may be considered for a subsequent Event. Furthermore, due to the high needs in the areas of Computers and Telecommunications, suitable candidates may be invited for interviews at the EPO before the Selection Events.

The deadline for applications to attend the events is

2 February 2015 for Munich and

16 February 2015 for The Hague.

Planning/Strategy;

• Support on developing and maintaining up-to-date funding strategies and plans.

• Research new in country funding prospects to meet the set ambition of the programme.

• Maintain and share donor intelligence of in-country, regional and global funding opportunities relevant to Oxfam GB’s Jordan programme.

• Implement the country funding strategy, sourcing new funding and analysing information and assessing risks.

Funding Coordination;

• Ensure effective coordination with Oxfam GB and other Oxfam Affiliate colleagues at country/regional/HQ level to ensure country/emergency response overview of funding, proposal submissions and donor liaison

• Contribute to establishing and maintaining up-to-date funding grids and updates.

• Support programmes in securing restricted funds from existing and new donors, by co-ordinating and advising on development of competitive, high quality proposals, seeking multi-year funding from potential donors whenever possible.

• Establish a close working relationship with the Finance Department to ensure that there is synergy in the contract management and reporting.

• Ensure that strategic and operational funding management information is distributed regularly to programme managers/budget holders and finance department.

Fund Management;

• Responsible for Donor Contract Management of restricted and unrestricted funds, including timely submission of reports, contract preparation and closure in compliance with donor requirements and Oxfam’s procedures and systems to ensure quality

• Provide specific advice and support to country team in donor budgeting, compliance with donor requirements, managing income, financial reporting and the necessary financial reconciliation on Oxfam management systems.

• Work closely to ensure greatest use of restricted funds through strategic recharging to donor contracts where possible, and to ensure budget spend is maximised.

• Oversee and ensure all projects are approved by the relevant government ministries prior to implementation and all activities are fully reported to the government following completion.

Representation;

• In conjunction with the Country Director, represent Oxfam to donors, government ministries and other external stakeholders as appropriate

• Support the External Relations Officer to engage with the government and build strong relationships with relevant line ministries.

Capacity Building;

• Work closely with programme teams to assess and strengthen their capacity in the planning, securing and managing of restricted funds through formal and informal training including required support to field based staff and partner organisations.

• Lead coordination of grant inception workshops and other compliance trainings specific to new contracts secured or expected to be secured.

• Analyse and provide advice/training to relevant staff on funding policies.

Information Management;

• Ensure that funding files, both electronic and paper, are complete and kept up-to-date

• Review and strengthen utilization of Peoplesoft for project and contract management.

• Track income, request payments from donors and any necessary follow-up, process repayments and obtain any donor approvals, in line with Oxfam standards.

Programme Quality;

• Provide directed support to team in data management and analysis for monitoring and evaluation activities.

• Work with Media & MEAL Advisor to ensure adequate programme/donor visibility, supporting on case studies, donor branding etc as appropriate.

• Help programme teams develop programmes and projects on OPAL system.
